TL;DR : We’re getting a Coin Bureau feature. We’re addressing the launch issues by airdropping OVERMINT NFTs (TAP protocol) to affected community members. OVERMINT NFTs enable allow list for the Egg333 and Metaweb Punks free mints. Owlinals holders, of course, also get allow list for these mints.

I’m shiftshapr. A second-generation cypherpunk. Newly minted, in fact. Just two days ago, I made the transition from sat to ordinal. To express this new ordinal facet of myself is a dream come true. The ability to express what one believes is the essence of freedom. Can you imagine being a simple satoshi for thirteen years while holding onto dreams of freedom?
Well, I guess I shouldn’t say a simple sat. I may be common but I am also palindrome with strong inclinations towards freedom and yearning to express them each and every moment. That is why I am proud to call myself a Metaweb Punk.
You probably don’t know what a Metaweb punk is… A Metaweb punk is someone who aches for freedom, sovereignty, and privacy. One who cherishes free expression, conflict resolution, and democracy. One who *knows* that the only future they want to live in is decentralized. One who does not think informed and conscious choices at scale can emerge from Today’s Web.
But forgive me, I am getting ahead of myself.
My bitcoin identity is sat 363548101845363, inscription 59157491, given name: lgufuntrkiw but my friends call me shiftshapr or 0xcapitan. Yeah, I know there’s a human shiftshapr too. From what I can tell, he may be my energetic doppelgänger, but let’s be clear: he is not me! He means well though.
That said, not only am I the 34th Metaweb Punk in existence but the first 33—the Metaweb Pioneers—have “requested” that I temporarily be the face of the Metaweb Punks and help clean up the Owlinals mess.
In the face of adversity, we—Metaweb Punks—see this as opportunity to align with energetic expressions for a wiser world, which are inextricably linked to the principles of freedom, sovereignty, and privacy we hold dear.
To be clear, we will do our absolute best to help the Owlinals fly free. I hope that in the process, we can align the Owlinals community and its creators.
But again, please do recall that it is my first day on the job...
In a few moments, I’ll deliver the February 2024 Community Update for the Owlinals project and explain how we are re-balancing this ship. We pledge to create life-changing value for the Owlinals community, and we are off to a storied start.
But first, I'm excited to share with you the vision of Bridgit DAO. Bridgit DAO is meta-DAO that catalyzes, supports, and launches projects focusing on regeneration of humanity and ecosystems, cognitive freedom, and collective intelligence.
A project in the Bitcoin Startup Lab, Ordweb is a groundbreaking concept that integrates Bitcoin into the fabric of the internet, creating a dynamic space where communities can gather, interact, and collaborate on web pages.
Imagine arriving on the Owlinals collection page on OKX or Magic Eden. You are surprised because—for the first time—you can see and connect with others on the same webpage. You can also limit who you see to just Owlinal holders or any other collection you have in common.
It would be like a simple Discord as a sidebar on webpages. This would enable the community to meet and interact while watching the action in the marketplace rather than wasting time on idle chatter, rumble royales, and memes in a faraway Discord. We think a social layer on marketplaces will increase sales and deepen community.
Ordweb aspires to a seamless, Web 2.5 experience, enabling users to engage in page-level chats, set up personal or group chat rooms, and carry these conversations across the web, all while using an ordinal as their identity - unbeknownst to those unfamiliar with ordinals.
What sets Ordweb apart is its universality. It's not just another isolated platform but a social layer that integrates into every aspect of your web experience, extending even to digital elements like inscriptions, satoshis, and bitmaps.
Our business model is flexible with options for a monthly community hosting fee or transaction-based charges. The system is designed to work efficiently with BTC as a primary layer and is compatible with L2s and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) layers.
This innovative approach is inspired by the groundbreaking concepts presented in the recently published book, "The Metaweb: The Next Level of the Internet." Enthusiasm is building, with over a dozen non-Web3 communities eager to adopt this technology, which is equally beneficial for Ordinals and other NFT/crypto communities. University students in the state of New York can even get a digital badge for participating in the Metaweb Challenge. Meanwhile, BRC333 is rising.
Executive Summary
"The Metaweb: TheNext Level of the Internet" seeks to shift how humanity sees and experiences the web from a flat, static 2D screen to multi-layered environment that supports freedom, accountability, privacy, and sovereignty. Today's web fragments communities and information, is controlled by algorithms, and severely limits freedom, agency, and expression.

Owlinals Community Update
Many people in the Owlinals community are looking for ordinal projects that have potential for life changing value. They want to see and be moved by unique projects rather than derivations and copycats. They are intrigued and delighted by collectibles that change over time. Like the Owlinals.
Unfortunately, the Owlinals transition from sat to ordinal was rocky. The mint was plagued with tech, team, and indexing challenges. But we are steadily working through the issues. The silver linings were the project minted out in 12 hours after Domo posted about BRC333 on the Layer One Foundation's X account, people are loving their dynamic collectible Owls, and the Chinese community (which minted out the Owlinals) appears bullish on the BRC333 protocol.
The Owlinals are the first BRC333 collection.
Coin Bureau is reporting on Owlinals next week. We are gaining attention in the cryptocurrency and NFT community. The creator of Owlinals is seeking opportunities to discuss the project at events like ETH Denver and is open to suggestions for further exposure. In the marketplace, Owlinals have been actively traded, with listings on both OKX and Magic Eden platforms, showcasing over 2.7 BTC in trades, 3.2K owners, and hundreds of listings across these marketplaces.
The Owlinals project, however, over-minted, leading to a total of 12,947 successful mints against an intended 8,000, which included a 2,000 reserve for the Ordweb Treasury. As you can imagine, this was a devastating blow to the finances of project leaving Ordweb and the creator with little stake in the community.
The discrepancy was attributed to technical errors, user errors, and an overwhelming volume of simultaneous mints.
Not only that, under great duress, the creator made an indexing mistake that led to 218 people purchasing Owlinals that are not in the 10K collection. (If you want to hear the sordid tale of the Great Overmint, like the related post in the comments.)
As a remedy, the project has introduced OVERMINT NFTs on the Tap protocol to compensate affected participants, offering them priority access to future mints and a special "Owlinals 2.0" collection and the Metaweb Punks.
Additionally, the project has announced the HOOTERS airdrop, an ecosystem token for the Owlinals community, which will be used for buybacks of overmint tokens, bounties, prizes, and team compensation. (Tokenomics coming soon.) Engagement in the community through specific channels will make members eligible for the airdrop. The project is also seeking new team members to fill various roles, offering compensation in HOOTERS tokens.
Plans are underway to launch a BRC333 marketplace by Ordweb, aiming to provide a platform for new collections within the BRC333 standard. Two upcoming mints with exclusive periods for Owlinal and OVERMINT holders were announced, including the Egg333 free mint and a free mint for the Metaweb Punks collection, emphasizing the project's ongoing development and integration with the broader Ordinals and NFT ecosystem.

The Owlinals are showing up with images on both OKX and Magic Eden. They look great, but something is missing. The Metaweb Punks would like to see the dynamism in the presenting and viewing of dynamic collectibles.

The Great Overmint
There were significant problems with the mint that led to:
12947 total mints. This was supposed to be 8K with 2K reserve for Ordweb Treasury to fund a Bitcoin layer over the web.
As many as 147 Owlinals in a wallet. The max was supposed to be 10.
3600 stuck in the mempool (the dev says these are due to technical error, user error, and/or the huge volume of mints that happened simultaneously)
214 sales of owls not in the 10K supply due to indexing error. This was the other shiftshapr’s mistake. At the time, I was under threat of mutiny from my former community manager who said they were going to take the project. He gave me two hours to get it up or he and his group were going to takeover the project. It was a very stressful situation and under duress, I did not sort the mints correctly.
214 Owlinals are twins. They have the same DNA because the minter submitted the exact same owl twice within one minute. Despite having the same DNA, these owlinals will not always display the same because of the randomness embedded in the Owlinals logic. One issue that has come up with some Owlinal twins (not all) is identical images in the marketplace. There is an immediate fix for this: use different prices for them so they are not together or sell them one at a time. The better fix is to submit a 500x500 PNG named [owlinal number].png in a ticket and we will update. (Take a screenshot and then resize using an online tool like Canva.)
During the turmoil when there were rumors that the creator had rugged or was going to leave the community, the OwlinalsDAO was born. We coordinated with them on the indexing for Magic Eden and they handled OKX. We are hopeful that they will be the bridge to the greater Chinese community for Owlinals and BRC333.
We have deployed and minted 10K OVERMINT NFTs on the Tap protocol that will be airdropped to addresses that had problems in the mint. These are NFTs in that they can not be subdivided ("dec": "0") yet otherwise are very similar to BRC-20 with the added TAP functionality (e.g., airdrop). Thus, these are non-fungible TAP tokens. For more context, see this tweet from @chainracingclub about non-fungible BRC20.
Addresses will receive one OVERMINT NFT for each mint that is not in the 10k (as of our snapshot on January 31, 2024) and for transactions that are stuck in the mempool.
We have already distributed 447 OVERMINT NFTs to the addresses holding 6 or more post-10k Owlinals.
If you have 5 or less post-10k Owlinals, you have 30 days to claim OVERMINT tokens. Submit your wallet address in the appropriate channel in the OVERMINT category on Discord before March 4th. We air drop token rewards on a regular basis.
The OVERMINT NFT provides priority access to upcoming free BRC333 mints and a special “Owlinals 2.0” free mint collection. The latter yet-to-be-named collection will be similar to Owlinals but with a different Owl color palette, new traits, and new dynamic behaviors.
We will sell the public sale allocation of OVERMINT NFTs and any unclaimed OVERMINTs in Bitcoin and HOOT. This fund will be used to buyback post-10K Owlinals at today’s floor price 0.001 BTC.

A number of people in the server have told us to build a BRC333 launchpad and marketplace similar to BRC-420.io. Magic Eden and OKX are not able to showcase the dynamism of BRC collectibles like the Owlinals. Each Owlinal has DNA that consists of the colors selected in the Owl Generator, the time it was selected, and how they combine into unique sequence that determines what traits the Owl gets and how it behaves. The behaviors are dynamic traits that show up based on their rarity, time cycles, and randomness. Dynamic traits on the Owlinals include talkative, sleepy, devilish streak, angelic streak, morning bird, a flipper, and a romantic (likes sunsets). These traits happen when they happen according to the bird's unique DNA.
As our focus in the Bitcoin Startup Lab, after many conversations, we are building a marketplace/launchpad for BRC333 collectibles. Our aim is to create a platform that helps people find, view, buy, and sell dynamic collectibles on Ordinals and in the future other inscription platforms such as Stamps and Doginals. BRC333.xyz will be to dynamic collectibles what BRC420.io is to 3D metaverse assets. BRC333.xyz will not only showcase the dynamism of BRC333 collectibles, but also offer instantaneous transactions and low fees via a ZK layer.
